Clinton State School offers
an extensive leadership program for our senior students. We embrace the
philosophy that each and every senior student is a leader and we foster
leadership skills in all of our senior students, by providing a range of programs
and opportunities to develop these skills.
In 2018, our school in partnership with the Midday Rotary Club established a Rotakids Club. Motivational speakers who inspire students to
aim high and work to achieve their dreams, helps each child clarify their
individual journey for success.
As our students move
towards their last year of primary school, we implement a six month leadership
program for all students explicitly teaching and modelling leadership skills.
Aspiring student leaders
nominate for leadership positions in Term 3, via a nomination form.
Leadership positions
available are:
- School and Vice Captains
- Cultural Leaders
- Student Council Leaders and members
- Green Club Leaders
- Music (Band and Orchestra) Leaders
- House Captains
Aspiring leaders must complete
a nomination form. Students are then
selected to move to the next stage of the leadership process by undertaking an
interview with members of the school leadership team and current student
leaders. Students are then shortlisted
to give a speech to demonstrate why they would be an exemplary leader and
demonstrate leadership, communication skills, teamwork skills in Term 4.
Student Leaders are announced in Term 4, with our Induction Ceremony taking
place early the following year.
Our Student Leaders run our
Student Council, which implements major initiatives, such as Caring for Our Clinton
Family, Kindness Day and Saying No Way to Bullying each term. They
compere whole school events, talk on daily assemblies, assist with sports
carnivals and musical concerts. Students are offered an array of opportunities
to demonstrate leadership in their final year at Clinton.
